GVSAR is a non-profit organization that relies on sponsorship, donations and partnerships with local businesses and groups.

We provide emergency services to the community around the clock. Our team is comprised of highly trained professionals who are ready to respond to any emergency situation.
“Together We Venture Forth…
So Others May Live”

Our base is located in Valleyview, AB, and we proudly serve the surrounding region. Our primary coverage extends up to the halfway point between us and our neighbouring Search and Rescue Alberta teams in Whitecourt, Grande Cache, Grande Prairie, and Slave Lake.
We are committed to supporting mutual aid requests throughout the province whenever assistance is required.

GVSAR members are all volunteers who have a passion for the outdoors and giving back to their local community while having fun learning new skills or developing their skills with like-minded people.
We would love to have you join our team!

GVSAR is partnered with AdventureSmart to provide outdoor education to youth and adults.

If you are in an emergency, call 9-1-1, or activate an emergency beacon (SPOT, InReach, etc.) if outside cell service and STAY IN PLACE if safe. Tasking agencies will request our assistance as needed, deploying us through emergency dispatch.

We respectfully acknowledge that we live and work within the traditional territory of Treaty 8. This land has long been home to Indigenous Peoples, including the Cree, Dene, and Métis, whose histories, cultures, and contributions continue to shape and enrich our communities.
We honour the Elders past and present, and commit to ongoing learning, relationship-building, and reconciliation with the Indigenous Peoples of this land.
